Ordering and buying a new boat
Tiderace Kayaks are made in Portugal by Nelo Mar Kayaks. Most boats are made to order to your specifications.
Choices of sizes.colours, and some customisation, such as position of bulkheads, footpegs, seat.

How the ordering process works
First step is to try the kayak or kayaks. Paddling 1-2 kayaks side by side on the same day often works well. You can arrange a bespoke demo, at a time and place that suits, or you can come along to a scheduled demo day. If the kayak is right for you, we discuss the pricing and timings, colours, and any customisations.
At this stage, I take a 20% deposit and place the order with Nelo.
Your kayak is then made by Nelo, and I keep you informed on timings where possible. In general, you can expect the process to take around 3 months. If you are in a rush, I may have a boat In Stock that you’d like.
I receive notification that your kayak is scheduled for delivery to London or Edinburgh, and I keep you updated. Now, I ask for the 80% balance to be paid as that is when I also pay Nelo for the kayak. All your payments are done via invoice and bank transfer to me. The kayaks are transported via road from Portugal and cross the channel and clear customs. We then make arrangements to hand over your new kayak.
